The technology level 12 Gorami Inspection ship is
utilized in high traffic, high law level systems for customs inspection
of trade/freight starships. Operating around main trade routes the 5G
maneuver drive enables it to move quickly between assignments. Having
a floatation hull the ship is operates from a main world which has a
reasonable proportion of water; it has purifier and intake to enable it
to refuel without needing to take up a space port ship slot.
It carries a platoon of ships troops for inspection and enforcement.
There is a brig capable of holding four people. There are sufficient
emergency escape pods for all crew, ship's troops and detainees. There
is sufficient fuel to operate for 28 days at least, and life support for
at least 33 days (that is for 10 crew + 22 troops + 4 detainees). There
is a medical console and four emergency low berths used for medical
emergencies - this cramped sub-compartment has low ergonomics. The crew
accommodation is reasonably spacious, with the Captain's stateroom having
en-suite fresher and space to work as a ready room, the first officer has
their own stateroom. The troop accommodation is relatively cramped,
though more spacious than simple barracks. There are a pair of ships
lockers for use as armories by the ships troops. Consoles are mostly
very spacious at 3 tons each (the turret consoles are 1.5 tons), providing
an ergonomic bridge.
The ship operates on two 12 hour shifts.
Each shift is made up of:
- Captain or First officer (in rotation)
- One ship pilot
- One engineer
- One dedicated sensor ops
- One ship’s Boat pilot (working Second sensor ops when not piloting the ship’s boat)
- Officer (O1) / Staff Sergeant (R4) (in rotation)
- Two squads of five (R3 R2 R2 R1 R1)
It carries a 30 ton ship’s boat in a dedicated hanger used to assist in
boarding operations.
The two hardpoints are each equipped with a modified VDistant Hybrid
S-L-M triple turret. Alongside each turret is a one ton store room
which easily holds 25 size-5 missiles and 25 Sandcaster reloads.
